Packer Operator

The Packer Operator works at the end of a production filling line, handling filled paint containers and preparing them for shipment. This role involves packing containers into boxes, stacking boxes onto pallets, assisting with line changeovers, supporting basic documentation tasks such as label printing, and performing end-of-shift cleanup. The position is physically active and requires standing for most of the shift while lifting paint cans and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Place filled paint containers into boxes at the end of the production filling line.
• Stack packed boxes onto pallets in an organized and stable manner.
• Assist with production line changes, including preparing materials and equipment as needed.
• Transport material samples to the lab as directed for quality checks or testing.
• Print and apply labels accurately to containers, boxes, or pallets according to production requirements.
• Perform end-of-shift cleanup of the work area to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Lift and move paint cans weighing approximately 510 pounds and boxes up to 25 pounds throughout the shift.
• Stand for the majority of the shift while operating within a fast-paced production environment.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures related to handling paint products and operating in a manufacturing setting.
• Work collaboratively with production team members to maintain steady line flow and meet daily output goals.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of manufacturing or warehouse experience.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Comfort working on your feet and standing for the majority of each shift.
• Basic ability to handle packing tasks in a production environment.
• Reliability and attention to detail when handling products and labels.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a fast-paced setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on a production line or in a packing role.
• Familiarity with general warehouse or manufacturing safety practices.
• Willingness to learn label printing processes and basic documentation steps.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-based environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a paint mixing and filling facility with a strong paint odor similar to a nail salon. The work takes place on a production floor at the end of a filling line, where you will be standing for most of the shift and handling paint cans and boxes. The environment is active and fast-paced, with routine lifting of 510 pound paint cans and boxes up to 25 pounds. You will work around industrial equipment and materials used in paint production, following safety guidelines appropriate for a manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pontiac, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
