Senior Accounting Manager

Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting Services (Nonprofit Sector) A leading professional services organization is seeking a Senior Manager, Finance & Accounting Services to support and advise nonprofit and mission-driven organizations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients on financial operations, strategic initiatives, and outsourced accounting engagements while leading high-performing teams. Responsibilities Depending on the needs of the client portfolio, responsibilities may include: Leading multiple client engagements, including month-end close processes, financial management projects, and advisory initiatives from planning through delivery. Serving as a primary point of contact for clients and acting as a trusted advisor on financial and operational matters. Preparing and presenting financial results, budgeting insights, forecasts, and key performance indicators to executive leadership, boards, finance committees, or audit committees. Overseeing engagement financials, including billing coordination and monitoring project performance. Mentoring and developing accounting professionals through coaching, training, and performance management. Assisting with resource planning, staffing decisions, and workload management across engagements. Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and leverage technology to enhance client service delivery. Ensuring work is performed in accordance with applicable accounting standards, industry best practices, and organizational policies. Supporting business development and practice growth initiatives through relationship building and identification of additional client needs. Desired Background CPA designation and a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus. Approximately 8-12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including significant exposure to nonprofit organizations. Experience managing client relationships and leading teams within a consulting, outsourced accounting, public accounting, or professional services environment. Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with executives, boards, and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. Experience utilizing financial systems, reporting tools, and accounting technologies.
