Job Title: GL Payroll Accountant Job Description

The GL Payroll Accountant is a key member of the Accounting & Finance team responsible for full-cycle payroll processing and comprehensive general ledger accounting. This role manages weekly and bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees, prepares and reconciles general ledger accounts, supports month-end close activities, oversees fixed asset accounting, and assists with treasury and audit functions. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants exposure to both payroll and broader accounting responsibilities.

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees using Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and month-end adjustments in support of the general ledger.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
• Reconcile payroll taxes and assist with W-2 processing to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
• Monitor fixed assets and maintain depreciation schedules in accordance with accounting standards.
• Record daily cash receipts and cash transactions to support accurate cash management and reporting.
• Support treasury and cash management activities, including tracking cash flows and assisting with related reporting.
• Administer company credit card reconciliations and ensure proper coding and documentation of expenses.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and maintaining strong internal controls.
• Collaborate with a tight-knit accounting and finance team to improve processes and support the company’s growth.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• 3+ years of general ledger (GL) accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliation.
• Demonstrated experience supporting month-end close processes.
• Knowledge of payroll tax reporting and related compliance requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ability to manage full-cycle payroll processing for a mid-sized employee base.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial and payroll data.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Experience using Paylocity for payroll processing.
• Experience using Sage or similar accounting software for general ledger and financial reporting.
• Comfort working in a small, growing company environment with direct visibility to leadership.
• Interest in gaining exposure to both payroll and broader accounting functions, including fixed assets and treasury.
• Commitment to maintaining strong internal controls and supporting audit requirements.

This role is fully on-site, Monday through Friday, with standard hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The work environment is team-oriented and collaborative, with a small company feel and a growth trajectory that offers increasing responsibility and visibility. The Accounting & Finance team consists of a tight-knit group of professionals, and the overall organization includes approximately 33 employees. The position provides direct exposure to senior leadership and is supported by a stable benefits package. Work is performed in a professional office setting with regular interaction across departments, using tools such as Paylocity, Sage, and Microsoft Excel.

This is a Permanent position based out of Harrisburg, PA.

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
