Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 3 years of med-surg experience, Epic proficiency, and an OH or compact RN license

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a teaching hospital environment
• Care for cardiac telemetry, renal, neurological, and post-surgical patient populations
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
• Rotating 3x12-hour day (7:00a-7:30p) or night (7:00p-7:30a) shifts, 36 hours per week
• Weekend and rotating holiday coverage required
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity across the organization as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of Med-Surg experience required in an inpatient setting
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive med-surg and telemetry nursing care including IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Manage respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Administer IV insulin protocols and titrate insulin drips as needed
• Perform wound care and wound vac management following isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; co-worker references not accepted
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this health system
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Completion of Ohio fingerprinting process required promptly after contract signing
• First-time travelers considered if experience requirements are met
