Financial Aid Compliance officer

Position Overview The Financial Aid Compliance Officer works under the Director and Associate Director to support the general accounting, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting of all student financial aid programs. The officer ensures that federal, state, and institutional programs are managed in strict compliance with legal mandates, leads compliance audit processes, and maintains the institution’s fiscal integrity. Responsibilities Administrative Support – Performs systematic quality checks on verification files, special/unusual circumstances (Professional Judgments), and other sensitive awarding processes; assists with presentations, seminars, workshops, and professional development training. Compliance and Policy Implementation – Develops, implements, and maintains a robust compliance program; updates and maintains the Financial Aid Procedures Manual; identifies and documents changes in federal/state law; assesses impacts on awarding workflows; completes Return to Title IV (R2T4) calculations; oversees mandatory student notifications; leads annual financial aid compliance audits. Special Projects and Reporting – Manages and reconciles all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs; compiles and submits required reports for federal and state agencies and the Texas A&M University System; leads end‑of‑year reporting and close‑out requirements. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement – Provides high‑level customer service and technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications Education – Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience – Three (3) years of related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications; functions and operations of higher education institutions; recruitment and marketing principles; ability to multitask, work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and present information clearly; knowledge of account reconciliations; data analysis and reporting. Security and Compliance Position is security sensitive and requires export‑control authorization prior to starting employment. Must comply with state and federal laws/codes, and Texas A&M University System policies, regulations, and procedures. All tasks must be performed safely in accordance with system and university safety requirements. Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
