Post, review, and verify daily financial transactions, including member activity, loan transactions, ACH activity, and general ledger entries. Balance and reconcile cash, settlement, and other key general ledger accounts on a routine basis. Monitor daily balancing reports and research and resolve out-of-balance conditions. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records and transaction postings. Reconciliations & Internal Controls Perform monthly reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts. Investigate, analyze, and resolve account discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain organized supporting documentation and audit trails for all reconciliations. Adhere to established internal controls and recommend process improvements when opportunities are identified. Assist in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial records. Month-End Close Support Support the CFO in completing month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries. Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for financial reporting. Assist with financial statement preparation and variance analysis. Research and explain account fluctuations and significant variances as needed. Accounts Payable & General Accounting Support Process vendor invoices and verify appropriate coding, approvals, and documentation. Maintain vendor records and monitor payment schedules to ensure timely disbursements. Assist with fixed asset accounting, depreciation tracking, and prepaid expense schedules. Support other accounting functions as assigned to ensure departmental efficiency. Collaboration with Branch & Operations Teams Serve as an accounting resource for branch and operational staff regarding balancing issues and transaction processing questions. Communicate effectively with internal departments to resolve posting errors, exceptions, and discrepancies. Partner with operational teams to promote accuracy, consistency, and strong financial controls across the organization. Audit & Compliance Assist with internal, external, and regulatory audits by gathering and providing requested documentation. Ensure compliance with credit union policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) regulations. Maintain organized records to support audit readiness and regulatory examinations. Support ongoing compliance efforts and contribute to a strong control environment. Other Duties Participate in special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives as assigned. Perform other accounting and financial responsibilities as needed to support the credit union's operations and strategic objectives.
