Correctional Records Technician Lead - Hearings Records Unit

Correctional Records Technician Lead – Permanent The Correctional Records Technician Lead (CRT‑Lead) reports to the Correctional Records Supervisor and leads the Hearings Records Unit’s correctional records technicians in Tacoma, WA. The position ensures that hearing processes for current DOC offenders are initiated, supervised, and completed accurately, supporting the Department of Corrections mission to improve public safety. Responsibilities Lead, direct, guide, and train CRT staff during the absence of the Correctional Records Supervisor, ensuring the Hearings Records processes are executed accurately. Coordinate and monitor the accuracy of hearing records processes and calculations. Provide clarification, monitor process accuracy, respond to questions, and propose process streamlining. Train staff on database systems, hearing records processes, and calculations. Audit and verify the accuracy of calculations completed by CRTs for individuals returned or revoked. Review OMNI screens for supervision activities and sentence structure. Assist in maintaining desk‑manual processes and resources. Notify the Correctional Records Supervisor of any performance issues. Provide exceptional customer service, effective communication, and timely request processing for DOC staff and other stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of experience maintaining or processing records of sentenced individuals. Six (6) months experience working within the Offender Management Network Information (OMNI) program. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel. Respect and maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers, the public, and/or criminal justice agencies orally and in writing. Preferred/Desired Qualifications One (1) year experience calculating CCP return, DOSA revocation/reclassification, and misdemeanor suspended sentence time. One (1) year experience working with OMNI. Six (6) months experience as a Correctional Records Technician in the DOC Hearings Records Unit with completion of the trial/probationary period.
