Sales Account Manager (U.S. Defense background)

Staffing & Recruiting | Senior Recruiter @ttg Talent Solutions A global leader in maritime safety and defense solutions is seeking a strategic and experienced Account Sales Manager to lead its business development initiatives within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) sector. This remote position is ideal for a sales professional with deep knowledge of federal procurement cycles, proven defense sector experience, and strong relationships across U.S. defense agencies and contractors. The role focuses on growing market share through strategic account planning, relationship development, and engagement with key decision-makers across military and federal institutions. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with national reach, offering excellent compensation and long-term career growth. Key Responsibilities Drive revenue growth across the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Marines, SOCOM, Coast Guard, DHS, and top‑tier defense contractors. Develop and execute strategic account and capture plans aligned with DoD procurement timelines. Build trusted relationships with Program Managers, Acquisition Officers, integrators, and defense primes. Lead opportunity qualification, RFI/RFP shaping, and proposal strategy. Maintain accurate pipeline tracking through CRM systems and deliver regular reporting. Monitor competitor activity and market trends; share intelligence with the global sales team. Represent the company at industry trade shows, promotional events, and customer visits. Collaborate closely with internal departments (Product, Compliance, Engineering) to align offerings with market needs. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in U.S. defense sales or federal contract acquisition. Deep knowledge of DoD procurement processes, including IDIQ, OTA, and FMS contracts. Existing network within military and government procurement channels is highly desirable. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building skills. Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and comply with ITAR, FCPA, and DoD cybersecurity requirements. Successful completion of background check required. Initial 6‑Month Objectives Complete onboarding on company defense product portfolio and certifications. Conduct internal alignment with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Compliance. Map customer procurement cycles and build a qualified pipeline. Identify and prioritize open RFIs/RFPs that align with company capabilities.
