2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor - Equipment & Safety

Available for 2nd shift only. Overview Supervise and coordinate day‑to‑day activities of Maintenance Technicians and assist in maintaining and repairing production equipment and facility equipment and structures, creating work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for plant maintenance needs. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Oversee Maintenance Technicians and provide direction regarding repair of production equipment and structural repairs to masonry, woodwork and building fixtures. Support Maintenance Technicians in their career paths and provide opportunities to achieve professional goals. Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to develop a comprehensive maintenance program, including preventive and predictive maintenance. Work with the Maintenance Planner to ensure work orders are initiated, modified and maintained. Work with the Maintenance Parts‑Order Clerk to ensure all parts and materials used are accounted for and processed in the inventory management software to ensure accurate inventory tracking. Conduct continuous training on SugarCreek maintenance procedures and relevant work safety requirements (Lock‑out Tag‑out (LOTO), machine guarding, etc.). Perform data collection and provide feedback/reports as requested by Plant Management. Submit purchase requests for tools, equipment and supplies as needed. Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards. Review past production schedules and estimate hour requirements for completing job assignments, using this information to create efficient work schedules for future projects. Explain company safety policies, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to Maintenance Technicians and relevant plant employees to reinforce compliance. Work with Maintenance Manager to establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase crew efficiency. Address employee issues in the Maintenance Department as needed, escalating to Plant HR and Plant Management when necessary. Coordinate with other Plant Supervisors/Managers on maintenance projects to minimize downtime. Comply with federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations. Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies. Follow SugarCreek safety rules and procedures. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED), or equivalent experience; vocational training in industrial maintenance or related field preferred. Experience: 3+ years in a maintenance role, preferably in a food manufacturing facility. Certification Requirements: None required. Abilities, Knowledge and Skills Required Strong knowledge of industrial machines and tools, including designs, uses, repair and maintenance. Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information to other employees. Effective troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical issues. Basic computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office. Employee management and conflict resolution abilities. Strict adherence to all safety procedures and policies. Logical reasoning to identify alternative solutions and approaches to problems. Ability to operate industrial‑size equipment safely and efficiently. Adequate hand dexterity to manipulate or move objects. Teamwork capability and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. Other Requirements No unusual physical requirements. Physical demands are consistent with typical industrial maintenance positions, including some sitting, standing and walking. Some tasks require climbing stairs or moving items weighing less than 50 lbs. Work Environment Some travel to other locations is required. The majority of work is performed in an indoor manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel‑toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment.
