What You'll Be Doing Wake County Public Health isseeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN ) to providecomprehensive nursing care within the Child Health Clinic. The RN deliversevidence-based pediatric nursing services for infants, children, adolescents,and their families while collaborating with providers and the interdisciplinaryhealthcare team. This position supports quality patient care through clinicalassessments, immunizations, care coordination, patient education, quality improvementinitiatives, and regulatory compliance while promoting health equity andpositive population health outcomes. Clinical Practice Provide comprehensive nursing carefor pediatric patients from birth through age 21. Perform nursing assessments, triage,and patient evaluations according to established clinical guidelines. Assist with well-child visits,growth and developmental assessments, vision and hearing screenings,developmental, behavioral, and autism screenings. Administer childhood immunizationsand accurately document vaccinations in the North Carolina ImmunizationRegistry (NCIR). Provide patient and family educationregarding immunizations, preventive health, chronic disease management,nutrition, developmental milestones, and community resources. Coordinate care with providers andcommunity resources to ensure continuity of care. Participate in care management andfollow-up activities for patients requiring additional services. Document patient care accurately andtimely within the electronic health record. Clinic Operations Collaborate with providers, nursingstaff, medical assistants, and support staff to promote efficient clinicworkflow and patient access. Assist with daily clinic operationsand support timely patient flow. Maintain clinical competencies andparticipate in orientation and competency validation activities. Participate in quality assurance,infection prevention, and patient safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with agencypolicies, evidence-based practice, CDC recommendations, and North CarolinaBoard of Nursing regulations. Maintain exam rooms, clinicalsupplies, and emergency equipment readiness. Quality Improvement Participate in quality improvementinitiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and operationalefficiency. Assist with monitoring qualitymeasures, immunization compliance, developmental screening completion, andfollow-up activities. Participate in implementation ofclinical protocols, standing orders, and evidence-based workflows. Support regulatory and accreditationcompliance activities. Collaboration and CommunityEngagement Collaborate with providers, schools,community agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to improve pediatrichealth outcomes. Participate in community outreachactivities promoting child health, preventive care, and diseaseprevention. Participate in departmentalmeetings, committees, and educational activities. Emergency Preparedness Participate in emergencypreparedness training and response activities. Maintain required certifications andassist in ensuring clinic readiness. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing No specific experience required Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing Equivalent education and experience are accepted Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Two or more years of pediatric, ambulatory, public health, or primary care nursing experience Experience in public health nursing Experience providing patient education and care coordination Experience with quality improvement initiatives Working knowledge of the North Carolina Immunization Registry (NCIR) Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems ("e.g., Athena or similar") Spanish language proficiency preferred How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
