Construction Director

HauglandGroup,aprivatelyownedLongIsland,NewYork-basedcivilinfrastructureandenergyconstructioncompany,hasanimmediateopportunityforaDirectorofConstructiontojoinourteam.ThispositionwillbebasedoutofourterritoryintheUSVI,St.Croix

TheDirectorofConstructionhasfullcommercialoversightoftheprojectincludingprocurement,contracts,financialexposure,changemanagement,claims/disputes,andriskmanagement.Providesstrategiccommercialguidancetoseniorcompanyleadership.TheidealcandidatewillhavesubstantiveProgressiveDesign-Build(PDB)experienceonlarge-scalehorizontalinfrastructureprojects,includingfederallyfundedprograms,servingasaprimecontractor,subcontractor,and/orjointventurepartner.

KeyResponsibilities

Commercial&FinancialManagement

Leadcommercialstrategyandensurecompliancewithallcontractobligationsandprocedures.
Overseechangemanagement,claimspreparation,paymentmechanisms,performanceprovisions,andcommercialreporting.
Managelargesubcontractportfolios,commercialnegotiations,andriskmitigationplans.
Developstrategyforvariations,disputes,andcontractualcorrespondence;ensuretimelynoticesandrecords.
Interfacewithlegalteams,executiveleadership,theclient,andprojectpartners;preparehigh-levelsummariesandforecasts.

StrategicLeadership

Provideexecutiveoversightofelectricalandcivilinfrastructureprojectsfrompursuitthroughcloseout.
Establishprojectdeliverystrategies,operationalpriorities,andresourceplansalignedwithcompanyobjectives.
PartnerwiththeCOOtosupportbusinessplanning,organizationalgrowth,budgeting,andforecasting.
Driveoperationalexcellence,processstandardization,andcontinuousimprovementinitiativesacrossconstructionoperations.
Monitorportfolioperformanceandimplementstrategiestoimproveproductivity,profitability,andprojectoutcomes.

ProgressiveDesign-BuildLeadership

LeadProgressiveDesign-Buildprojectdeliverybyintegratingowners,designers,estimators,procurementteams,andconstructionpersonnelthroughoutprojectdevelopmentandexecution.
ProvideexecutiveoversightofPhase1preconstructionservices,includingdesigndevelopment,constructabilityreviews,riskassessments,costmodeling,scheduling,andvalueoptimization.
Facilitatecollaborativedecision-makingwithprojectownersandstakeholderstoestablishscope,deliverystrategies,budgetobjectives,riskallocation,andexecutionplans.
Oversethedevelopment,validation,andnegotiationofopen-bookestimates,commercialstrategies,GuaranteedMaximumPrice(GMP)proposals,andprojectpricingpackages.
Ensureaseamlesstransitionfrompreconstructionintoconstructionexecutionwhilemaintainingalignmentwithschedule,quality,safety,financial,andperformanceobjectives.
Championinnovation,earlyriskidentification,andintegratedplanningtoimproveprojectcertainty,stakeholderalignment,andoverallprojectoutcomes.
Providestrategicoversightofrelationshipswithdesignpartners,specialtyconsultants,subcontractors,utilityowners,regulatoryagencies,andjointventurepartnersthroughouttheprojectlifecycle.

Client&BusinessDevelopment

Developandmaintainstrongrelationshipswithclients,utilityproviders,governmentagencies,consultants,andstrategicpartners.
Supportbusinessdevelopmentefforts,projectpursuits,proposals,andcontractnegotiations.
Identifyopportunitiesforrepeatbusiness,marketexpansion,andlong-termclientpartnerships.
Representthecompanyinexecutive-levelmeetings,presentations,andindustryengagements.
Serveasatrustedadvisortoclientsthroughouttheprojectlifecycle.

Leadership&Culture

Championacultureofsafety,quality,accountability,andoperationalexcellence.
Lead,mentor,anddevelopProjectManagers,Superintendents,Engineers,andconstructionsupportstaff.
Supportrecruitment,workforceplanning,successionplanning,andemployeedevelopmentinitiatives.
Establishperformanceexpectationsandaccountabilitymeasuresacrossprojectteams.

RequiredQualifications

WillingnesstorelocatetoSt.Croix,USVI.
Bachelor'sdegreeinconstructionmanagement,CivilEngineering,ElectricalEngineering,orarelatedfieldpreferred.
PE,DBIA,CCM,PMP,orsimilarindustrycertification.
12+yearsofprogressiveleadershipexperienceininfrastructureconstruction,utility,energy,transportation,orheavycivilmarkets.
Demonstratedsuccessleadinglarge-scaleProgressiveDesign-Build(PDB),Design-Build,CM/GC,CMAR,orotheralternativedeliveryprojectsandmultidisciplinaryteams.
Strongunderstandingofpreconstructionmanagement,designintegration,projectdelivery,contractadministration,projectcontrols,financialmanagement,andriskmitigation.
Experiencedevelopingandvalidatingprojectestimates,GMPs,commercialstrategies,andexecutionplansduringcollaborativepreconstructionphases.
Provenabilitytomanageclientrelationshipsandcollaboratewithexecutivestakeholders,owners,designers,andjointventurepartners.
Proficiencywithconstructionmanagement,projectmanagement,estimating,andschedulingsoftware.
Validdriver'slicenseandabilitytotraveltoprojectsitesasrequired.
