Overview Your structured-literacy training — Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master’s in reading — has opened the door to every K-2 reading position you’ve pursued. What You Will Be Doing Creating small-group K-2 literacy workshops using real-time adaptive-app data, anchored in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or similar). Conducting daily motivation sessions to ensure 100% of your students reach weekly app targets via Alpha's motivational architecture (campus currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate game elements). Analyzing AI-generated performance metrics (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction during the day, not only during planning periods. Delivering running records, fluency checks, and decoding evaluations to generate growth visible in weekly campus data meetings. Serving as the engaging, high-energy adult your K-2 learners anticipate interacting with daily. What You Won’t Be Doing Implementing a commercial reading curriculum, scripted lesson sequence, or district timeline; you create lessons directly from student performance data. Presenting to a whole class; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete core subjects through adaptive technology. Serving as a reading consultant, teacher coach, or district-level resource; you work directly with children in the classroom daily. Managing a traditional classroom schedule: subject-specific lectures, homework debriefs, test preparation. Your instructional blocks consist of workshops, motivational sessions, and data-informed small groups. Drafting IEPs, 504 accommodations, or formal psychoeducational reports; student progress is tracked via app analytics and your running records, not special-education documentation. Instructional Coordinator Key Responsibilities Generate quantifiable K-2 literacy growth across phonics, fluency, and comprehension within a campus culture where results are assessed weekly. Basic Requirements Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master’s degree in reading instruction. Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, plus 2+ years of full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment within the past 5 years, applying systematic phonics or structured literacy. Proven capacity to independently design reading lessons and clearly explain your instructional content and methods, without depending on a commercial program. Commitment to full-time, in-person work at one Alpha campus: Beverly Hills, La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton or Miami Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available). Openness to working with all K-2 learners (not exclusively struggling readers) and incorporating AI and adaptive-learning technologies into daily practice as these tools develop. Nice-to-have Requirements Direct experience with AI-enabled or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for lesson planning or student data interpretation. Documented reading outcomes (fluency gains in WCPM, accuracy increases, decoding level progression) you can quantify. Familiarity with diagnostic reading tools (DRA, DIBELS, AIMSweb) for creating differentiated instructional groups. Work history in high-accountability educational settings (independent schools, elite charter networks, premium tutoring environments with outcome-focused families). Background in performance, youth sports coaching, or engaging K-2 audiences outside traditional reading instruction.
