The Platform team is responsible for building and supporting services that enable our development teams to leverage frameworks, tooling, and services across in-house and vendor PaaS/IaaS offerings. Data Platform defines the architectural roadmap, best practices, and provides education on these services. You will join a cross-functional team of engineers and help define the architectural direction of the firm, build services, and provide mentorship not only within your team, but also across the organization. Platform’s goal is to enable our fellow product focused teams to deliver solutions faster through automation and engineering.Responsibilities Design and build a highly scalable data platform using various data storage and high-performance computing technologies on AWS.Engineer solutions that are well-tested, high-quality, and extensible. Maintain all aspects of daily investment process systems, including production jobs (C#, Python, Java, Windows, Linux).Develop patterns, frameworks, and tooling to seamlessly integrate new data content and derived metrics while ensuring data quality. Remain committed to automation of the entire software delivery lifecycle. Contribute to the principles that guide technology decisions which work to help define cloud strategyCollaborate with data and technology teams to extend data quality capabilities and establish support practices for the investment data platform.Participate in design reviews of advancements in investment decision systems to promote adoption and ensure seamless integration with the data platform. Develop familiarity and expertise in investment data content and its use in investment strategies. Pair with your team members to build out services and tools that advance our cloud capabilities using AWS services like EKS, ECS, EC2, Lambda, and ParallelCluster Work closely with our partners at AWS to leverage architecture and support services Review, comment, and approve pull/merge requests Analyze the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement Consult on infrastructure projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture and the needs of the end user community Rotate through an on-call schedule with your team members to provide after-hours support when neededQualifications Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding academic record in a technical field such as mathematics, science, or engineering; a CFA charter is a plus.Superior software development, data modeling, and programming skills to move quickly from concept to solution, with a solid understanding of the software development life cycle.Significant hands-on development experience with C#, Java, TypeScript aand Python for modeling/analytical work and SQL for data access and architecture using libraries such as Pandas, Polars, Ibis).An understanding of the best fit for column, key-value, document, relational, time-series, and file stores.Experience working with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, EC2, ECS) and Kubernetes.Familiarity with data platforms and tools such as DuckDB, ClickHouse, MongoDB, Iceberg, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis, as well as orchestration tools (e.g., Dagster, Airflow).Creativity, enthusiasm, collegiality, and the ability to excel in a self-starting environment.A drive to deliver high-value projects with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.Outstanding analytical skills and the ability to clearly articulate approaches and results in verbal, graphical, and written form.
