Senior Accountant

Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, a privately held engineering and consulting firm.


The Senior Accountant will support critical accounting operations, including account reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, financial cleanup efforts, and bank reporting support. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can work independently, quickly understand existing processes, and provide immediate value through accurate financial analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and experience working with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete account reconciliations from January through the current accounting period.
• Review, analyze, and resolve account discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable entries and processing.
• Support general accounting cleanup and catch-up activities.
• Review accounting records and identify opportunities for improved accuracy and organization.
• Assist with preparation of financial information for the Q2 bank covenant worksheet.
• Review and finalize accounting drafts provided to the bank.
• Support timely and accurate financial reporting processes.
• Maintain organized accounting documentation and records.
• Work independently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners as needed.
• Perform additional accounting duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements include: Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent accounting experience may be considered.

Experience:

• Senior Accountant-level experience required.
• Experience performing account reconciliations, general ledger activities, and financial reporting support.
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Experience supporting accounting cleanup, catch-up projects, or process improvements preferred.
• Temporary Controller or interim accounting leadership experience is a plus.
• Experience working in an engineering, consulting, professional services, or similar environment preferred.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
• Strong account reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and become productive quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with accounting software systems.
• Strong Excel skills preferred.
• Sage Intacct experience highly preferred.

Certifications:

• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Additional accounting certifications are a plus.

Knowledge:

• General ledger accounting.

• Bank reporting and covenant documentation.
• Accounting systems and financial data management.
