Public Health Nurse

Identifies, promotes and maintains the health of the public by providing direct nursing care and health education in office, home, or community settings. Serves a culturally diverse population.

Examples of duties include:

• Provide nursing intake, assist with processing referrals, facilitate referrals to community resources, and coordinate care.
• Provide immunizations to both adults and children in office and community locations.
• Assist Public Health Nursing Supervisor with vaccine program management.
• Coordinate and participate in community immunization clinics.
• Provide and coordinate refugee health services.
• Provide nursing care and health education to in office or home settings.
• Provide Mantoux testing, tuberculosis case management, and disease investigation and control follow-up.
• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum qualifications: current Minnesota licensure as a Registered Nurse, and one to three years of nursing experience. A driver's license is required. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a State approved and nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, as is certification, or eligibility for certification, as a Public Health Nurse in Minnesota. Consideration will be provided for candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish and/or English/Somali).

Hiring range: $36.01 - $40.91 per hour. Hours: Regular, part-time or full-time, benefit eligible position. 32 - 40 hours per week (position to be appointed at.8 or 1.0 FTE). Typical work hours between 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Occasional planned evening or weekend hours for community outreach events. Occasional evening or weekend hours for community outreach events. Very limited weekend/holiday coverage for homecare visit coverage. MNA Union Grade 12 Bargaining unit members holding a Public Health Nurse certification shall be paid two dollars ($4.00) per hour in addition to the wage on the salary schedule of the CBA for all hours worked, ending on December 31, 2027.
