Veterinarian - Area Chief of Staff

Area Chief of Staff Pay Range : $128,635 - $185,806 annually, eligible for variable pay except Puerto Rico. Pay determined by experience, skill level, abilities, and education. Summary of Role : The Area Chief of Staff leads, develops, and manages associate veterinarians across hospital pods to ensure quality care and meet performance measures. Responsible for culture, quality, and retention of veterinary staff. Essential Responsibilities Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. Act as Responsible Veterinarian for Veterinary and Pharmacy Board Permits. Manage controlled substance inventory for relief doctors. Drive doctor engagement and retention; assess risk and build supportive culture. Provide medical leadership to hospital teams, fostering inclusive collaboration. Validate clinical skill set and quality standards through record reviews, audits, and safety event reviews. Spend a portion of time in clinical practice based on hospital load and partnership with DVQ. Coaching and onboarding of newly hired veterinarians. Partner with Director of Veterinary Quality and Talent Acquisition to recruit talent. Act as brand ambassador in the local veterinary community. Deliver excellence to student externs, interns, and externship candidates. Work with associate doctors to help achieve productivity and client experience goals. Monitor and meet veterinary operations KPIs and hospital OGSM performance. Ensure compliance with Banfield clinical essentials, regulations, and industry standards. Manage medical equipment inventory and new equipment requests. Resolve client complaints related to medical standard of care. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Education & Experience Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent foreign degree. Valid veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure in applicable states. Minimum 3 years of small animal medicine and surgery practice. Licensing Must obtain state‑controlled substance and federal DEA license within 3 months of employment. Must obtain USDA accreditation within 3 months of employment.
