As a Principal Propulsion Engineer – Level 3 located in Promontory, UT, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.The Principal Propulsion Engineer will our Conceptual Design and Flight Performance team. This position will be at our Propulsion Systems Division facility located in Promontory, UT with periodic assignments at our Bacchus (Magna), UT location.This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:Responsible for all aspects of conceptual rocket motor design, flight performance and system-level design and analysis, includingDevelop new concepts for use in marketing, proposal, and programmatic efforts that help shape the future of our businessPresent technical solutions and information to engineering organizations, internal and external customers, and to company leadership.Design and optimize conceptual propulsion elements and vehiclesPerform trajectory analysis of launch vehicles, missiles, and sounding rocketsSolve a variety of challenging, often open-ended, aerospace engineering problemsExpected travel around 10%Other duties as assignedWhy you? You're the candidate we're searching for if you are ready to achieve the impossible alongside like-minded innovators.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (STEM) with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 years of professional experience.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearanceWorking knowledge of solid rocket motor design and performanceWorking knowledge of launch vehicles and their designsExcellent communication skills and the ability to clearly present technical informationProven ability to be flexible in work assignments, which may vary frequently from tasks including analysis, design, project engineering, systems engineering, etc.Strong problem-solving skillsExcellent time management and organizational skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsGeneral computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Preferred Qualifications:Experience in solid rocket motor design/analysis areasAbility to understand motor system (big picture) while working on individual components (details)Aerodynamics and/or loads & environmentsLaunch vehicle CONOPSActive, current U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application.Experience in optimization
