Family Resource Specialist - FRS/Casa Corazón

Agency Description Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency with an emphasis on serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, and psychological and psychiatric interventions, as well as cultural/social and spiritual re‑enforcement. The agency serves children, youth, adults and families. It has a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco. Job/Program Description Casa Corazón provides Family Support Services programs within IFR. Program services include parent-child interactive groups, case management, parenting classes, parent leadership development, etc. Utilizing a model that supports family resilience, cultural diversity, and community empowerment, Casa Corazón helps ensure that Chicano/Latino families receive the support they need to remain safe and healthy. Casa Corazón grew out of the Family Resource System movement to ensure that families received a continuum of support and services to enhance family resilience. In response to the needs of Chicano/Latino families in San Francisco, Instituto Familiar de la Raza and three other organizations established the Chicano/Latino Family Resource System. Essential Job Duties are, but are not limited to the following: Plan and facilitate interactive parent-child playgroups for families with infants and toddlers, fostering early childhood development; alternatively, lead fatherhood support groups and evidence-based parenting classes Purchase meals or snacks for group meetings and events, adhering to program budget and dietary guidelines Provide one-on-one support and advocacy for families navigating school, health, housing, and community services Conduct outreach to invite families to services, groups, and events Connect families to basic need assistance resources Complete timely and accurate monthly reports, including attendance logs and program summaries Enter data into the program database Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities Assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the family resource center REQUIRED SKILLS: Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Available to work evenings and weekends Excellent verbal communication skills in Spanish Knowledge and sensitivity to issues of diversity in the Latino/Chicano community, including those of gender, race, language, sexual orientation, immigration, and socio-economic status One year’s experience providing paid or volunteer community health education services or a combination of 4 plus years of work experience and education. Complete yearly recurrent online training PREFERRED SKILLS: Bi-Multicultural competency Experience in a non-profit community agency and knowledge of community resources serving families in the San Francisco Bay Area Ability to work in a crisis, fast-paced and collaborative environment. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES BA Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Ethnic Studies, human/social services, or related field A combination of relevant work, education, and training in social welfare, youth development, and/or community advocacy can be considered. Child Development and Family Studies Valid Driver’s License CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT Must submit to a tuberculosis test annually Must pass the Department of Justice Fingerprint screening Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Salary Range: This is a full-time position with benefits, with an hourly salary range of $25.08 to $27.72. Commensurate with work experience, qualifications, and education All full-time positions are based on a minimum of thirty-five (35) hours per week. This is a full-time non-exempt position at 35 hours a week . The position is eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) plans, earn vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, two wellness days (birthday and hire date) and receive ongoing opportunities for learning.
