Our programs equip clients with essential skills and experiences today so that they are empowered to take the next step tomorrow.PROGRAM SUMMARYCareer Ready (SYEP) Funded through the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides New York City youth between the ages of 14 to 24 with paid, summer work experience and project-based learning opportunities for up to six weeks in July and August. Participants work in entry-level positions across a variety of sectors and industries, and are provided with workshops on job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, continuing education and other life skills.The Work, Learn and Grow Program (WLG) offers young people (between the ages of 16 and 20) from select NYC public schools an opportunity to strengthen work-readiness skills, explore careers, and receive academic support- including guidance on postsecondary education and the potential to earn a college credit.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESUnder the supervision of the Multi-Site Director, the Education Specialist willAct as a liaison between CPC and worksites / industry partnersFollow up with existing worksites to ensure their continued participationsDevelop new partnerships with variety sectors and industriesConduct and facilitate work readiness training, interactive project-based learning workshops and program orientationMeet with Director and other staff regularly to assess participants’ progress and challengesComply with all DYCD policies and administrative proceduresProvide support by responding to program related inquiries, matching participants to worksites, and site monitoringConduct participant/worksite surveys and evaluations; and assisting with audits and site visits from DYCDAttend staff meetings trainings as required by CPC and DYCDAssist with administrative aspects of the SYEP program with data entry, compiling, filing and organizing worksites and participants folders.Support the SYEP and WLG program in all 3 locations.Collaborate with school-based programs during the school year and support as needed.Report to and fulfill other duties as assigned by the Multisite DirectorEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related fieldA minimum of 2 years’ experience working within the fields of youth and/or workforce developmentSkills and Competencies:Must be culturally competent and provide services in a manner sensitive to participants’ cultural heritage and traditions, life experience, sexual orientation and gender identityExcellent organizational and communication skillsStrong work ethic and demonstrated passion for working with immigrant and low-income communities, and youth developmentKnowledge of MS office applications and virtual platform such as Zoom, Teams and WebexWilling to travel to worksites via public transportationWilling to occasionally work weekends and/or eveningsFluency in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese)COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW$26.93 - $29.12 per hour (equivalent annual salary of $49K-$53K); 35 hours per weekCPC offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to generous paid time off (holiday, sick and vacation time), Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance Coverage, Commuter Benefits, and a 403(b) Retirement PlanHOW TO APPLYInterested individuals should submit their resume, along with a cover letter addressed to Raihan Mondal when applying online via CPC’s website: or selected online job boards.
