Director, Risk Management Insurance and Claims

Our client is a leading container shipping and logistics provider serving the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and the Bahamas. The company has built a reputation for reliable service, entrepreneurial growth, and exceptional customer relationships across international trade lanes. Today, they operate a diversified transportation and logistics platform that includes liner shipping services, port operations, trucking, warehousing, cargo handling, and specialized provisioning services. The Director, Risk Management, Insurance & Claims will report directly into the CEO and work closely with ownership and executive leadership, the Director will oversee the company's complete insurance portfolio, direct all claims management activities, lead enterprise risk initiatives, and help architect the future operating model for risk and claims management as part of a company-wide ERP transformation. This is a unique opportunity for a hands‑on leader to build processes, create structure, influence organizational culture, and establish a proactive risk management philosophy within one of the maritime industry's most respected privately held organizations. Required Experience 10+ years of progressive experience in risk management, insurance, claims, or related leadership roles. Significant experience within container shipping, liner shipping, maritime transportation, logistics, or related sectors. Proven leadership responsibility for complex cargo and operational claims. Experience managing broad commercial insurance portfolios and renewals. Demonstrated success leading organizational change, process improvement, or function modernization initiatives. Experience interacting with maritime counsel, insurers, brokers, underwriters, and P&I Clubs. Strong understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain operations and maritime transportation. Preferred Experience Container or liner shipping background strongly preferred. Experience with major shipping operators, terminal operators, maritime logistics providers, or marine insurers. Exposure to ERP implementation or business transformation projects. Experience leading teams through periods of change and growth. Education & Credentials Bachelor's degree required.
