Medical Records Specialist

Thrive Behavioral Health is actively hiring a Medical Records Specialist to join the administrative team in Rosedale Maryland. This is a full time position working in-person at the clinical office. This position is a great opportunity to work with a clinical team supporting medical records with growth opportunities and healthcare benefits.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Process medical records request from all outside sources within 3-5 business days2. Checks clients’ in for psychiatry and/or clinical appointments.3. Communicate with appropriate staff to ensure records are accurate and appropriate before releasing4. Maintain the consents and ROI’s for all clients daily5. Answers phones, schedules appointments, answers questions and requests as needed.6. Attends meetings as assigned and reports on major points and actions resolved or needed to be taken.7. Resolves administrative problems by preparing reports, analyzing data and identifying solutions if requested.8. Address all subpoenas with appropriate staff and if needed legal counsel9. Handles a variety of matters involving contact with various staff and prescribers.10. Composes correspondence and disseminates to appropriate individuals.11. Develops and updates administrative systems to make them more efficient.12. Prepares various documents and handles confidential matters in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.13. Ensures equipment operates effectively, calls for repairs when necessary, maintains equipment inventories, andevaluates the performance of new equipment.14. Takes vitals as needed.15. Disinfects various items as needed per infection control.16. Attends and completes all required agency trainings.17. Performs other duties and tasks as required.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:1. Prefers minimum of two years of administrative assistant experience, including one year of experience inhealthcare.2. Knowledge of industry standards as related to the position of Administrative Assistant.3. Basic knowledge of PC software programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook is preferred.4. Knowledge of purchasing, budgeting, and inventory control.5. Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise,conversations and foot traffic.6. Must be able to work independently with little supervision in an unstructured environment with multipledemands.7. Must possess a reading and writing level that provides for clear expression and/or understanding of assignmentsrelated to job description.8. Be fully aware of all facility programs, their eligibility requirements, competencies and strengths.9. Has the ability to consistently consult with supervisor when necessary and works as a team.10. Must be organized, flexible, and able to demonstrate self-motivation and prioritization.11. Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility in person and over thetelephone.MINIMUM JOB REQUIRMENTSEducation, Training, and Experience Required:High school diploma, or GED equivalent or three years’ work experience.Preferred, Experienced as a Medical Records Specialist or similar, preferably in the field of behavioral health.Preferred, Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling or psychology from an accredited university or related field: BSW or MSW preferred (Significant experience in aging could replace the educational requirement).Prefer CPR/First Aid Certification.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:The essential functions of this job include the following physical and intellectual demands:Frequently sit, stand, and or walkFrequently hearing, seeing and speakingRegularly typingOccasionally lift and/or move up to 25 poundsThe ability to work in a fast-paced environment with potential for stressful situationsComprehends and performs job duties at a reasonable pace while using attention to detailConcentrates, formulates plans, and makes decisionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Role typically conducted in a Thrive office setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
