Senior Landscape Architect

An established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Landscape Architecture Team Leader to drive the growth of its planning and landscape architecture practice in the Richmond region. This hybrid leadership role combines business development, team management, project delivery, and design oversight, offering the opportunity to shape both a growing practice and the communities it serves. Working alongside senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in expanding client relationships, developing new business opportunities, mentoring staff, and delivering innovative planning and landscape architecture solutions across a broad range of sectors. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor and develop a team of landscape architects, planners and design professionals. Create a collaborative and supportive working environment that encourages innovation and professional growth. Support recruitment, workforce planning and staff development initiatives. Provide coaching and guidance to junior and mid-level team members. Encourage the adoption of new technologies and best practices to improve design quality and project delivery. Business Development Develop and implement strategies to expand the landscape architecture and planning practice. Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients. Identify new project opportunities and support strategic market growth. Prepare proposals, fee estimates, scopes of work and client presentations. Represent the business through industry events, networking opportunities and professional organisations. Act as a senior project manager or technical lead on complex planning and landscape architecture projects. Guide projects through site analysis, concept development, master planning, detailed design, documentation and implementation. Provide technical direction and quality assurance across multiple project teams. Coordinate with engineers, architects, planners and environmental specialists to deliver integrated design solutions. Promote sustainable and resilient design approaches throughout project delivery. Monitor project performance, budgets, resource allocation and programme schedules. Support the use of digital design, visualisation and GIS technologies to enhance project outcomes. Skills & Experience Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary design teams. Strong business development skills with the ability to establish long-term client relationships. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Strong technical knowledge of landscape architecture, site planning and construction documentation. Understanding of planting design, materials, specifications and sustainable landscape principles. Experience delivering projects for public and private sector clients. Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, programme and financial performance. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Urban Design or a related discipline. Professional Landscape Architecture registration required, with Virginia licensure preferred or the ability to obtain it. Approximately 10–15 years' professional experience, including leadership, project management and business development responsibilities. Proven experience delivering projects from concept through construction documentation and implementation. Experience preparing proposals, fee estimates, contracts and client presentations. Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, schedules and multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, GIS platforms and Microsoft Office. #J-18808-Ljbffr
