THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Public Health at Cal State East Bay is home to a diverse faculty and student body, with 14 tenure-track faculty members and over 400 students. The Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree prepares graduates for entry-level careers with social impact, encompassing community-engaged health, environmental health, epidemiology, health education, health communication, and health program planning and evaluation. The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences is designed to prepare students to enter directly into clinical careers or pursue post-graduate professional programs. DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The Department of Public Health periodically employs a limited number of part-time faculty to teach undergraduate courses within the department . It is recruiting in all areas, but has a particular need for instructors in: health/medical humanities, health disparities/health equity, bioethics, health law, health economics, health regulation, health care payment systems, and health data & information management. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or Online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California. RANK AND SALARY: Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027. QUALIFICATIONS: Adoctoral-level degree, e.g., PhD, DrPH, MD, JD, or proof of candidacy for a doctorate is required; applicants with a Master’s Degree with accompanying certification and/or work experience will be considered.Candidates with experience teaching within a population perspective through a lens of social determinants are desired.The Department prefers applicants with teaching experience at the college/university level.
