Assistant Professor / Associate Professor/ Professor - Clinical, Neurosurgery Employee Type: Faculty Department: Neurosurgery Campus Location: NEUROSURGERY Job Summary and Basic Functions The Neurosurgery Department within the School of Medicine of the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is seeking applicants for a Vascular Neurologist with subspecialty training in Interventional Neuroradiology. Appointment will be at the academic rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) with rank determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience. This physician will provide care at West Jefferson Medical Center and University Medical Center – New Orleans. Responsibilities include a leadership role in developing a comprehensive stroke center transitioning from the center’s primary status; collaboratively expanding an established, high-quality clinical service with colleagues in intensive care, neurology and neurosurgery; providing clinical services, supervising Neurosurgery and Neurology residents, as well as sharing call. Other activities include participation in medical student education, resident selection and evaluation, as well as involvement in clinically relevant research and scholarship. Minimum Qualifications Required Education: MD or equivalent Required Field of Study: Neurology Certifications or Licenses Required: BC/BE (or equivalent) as listed below; Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana and credentialed and with all required entities before hire. Type of experience required to perform the job: Completed fellowship training in Interventional Neurology or Neurointerventional Radiology or Neuroendovascular Surgery (2 years). Completed an Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited residency in Neurology. Completed an ACGME fellowship in Vascular/Stroke Neurology (1 year) or ACGME / United Council on Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) fellowship in Neurocritical Care (2 years).
