US Accounting Policy Lead

Core ResponsibilitiesUS GAAP Technical Accounting & Policy Leadership: Act as the expert on US GAAP standards, offering guidance on complex accounting issues. Analyze and apply US GAAP to new transactions and business initiatives. Create and maintain consistent US accounting policies and procedures. Evaluate the impact of new US GAAP standards and communicate changes to stakeholders. Advise on technical accounting for areas like financial instruments and revenue recognition. Oversee the preparation and audit of statutory financial statements. Lead a team focused on statutory reporting requirements. Coordinate with external auditors to meet audit timelines and resolve findings. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and regulatory deadlines. Approve financial statements and related disclosures. Provide accounting support to various business divisions. Collaborate with corporate functions on accounting impacts of business initiatives. Engage with senior leaders on accounting matters and financial reporting. Advise on accounting for new products and transactions. Simplify complex accounting requirements for non-finance stakeholders. Audit & Control Environment: Serve as the main contact for auditors on technical accounting issues. Handle audit inquiries and support SOX compliance efforts. Participate in audit planning and technical consultations. Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop a team responsible for financial statements. Promote a culture of learning and technical excellence. Provide guidance on complex issues and encourage knowledge sharing. Support team growth through coaching and career planning. Role Qualifications 12+ years in accounting, with a focus on technical accounting and financial services. Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA required. Expertise in US GAAP principles and application of complex standards. Strong knowledge of financial services products. Experience managing audit processes; Big 4 experience preferred. Proven leadership and staff development skills. Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences. Strong stakeholder management and ability to work under pressure.
