Executive Director

The Executive Director shall be the chief administrative officer of the New Boston Special Industrial Economic Development Corporation (SIDC- Type A) and Community Development Corporation (CDC-Type B) providing senior level direction, management and oversight of the New Boston, Texas EDCs. In general, responsibilities include economic development activities including retail, commercial and industrial business retention and expansion, community development, economic and incentive analysis, strategic planning and collaborating and building relationships with the EDC Board, city administration, chamber of commerce, business community, and commercial real estate representatives. Supervision Received and Exercised The Executive Director shall be appointed and supervised by the SIDC Board of Directors. The employment status of the Executive Director, including hiring, terminating, and placing any other restrictions or qualifications on the Executive Director’s employment, shall be the sole responsibility of the SIDC Board of Directors. The Executive Director will contract with and answer to the SIDC Board of Directors on all matters pertaining to the Corporations. The Executive Director exercises direct supervision over the administrative assistant of the New Boston EDCs. Responsibilities Assumes full management responsibility for all services and activities related to economic development activities in the City of New Boston, Texas. Develops and presents EDC Annual Strategic Work Plan, Annual Budget, and proposed projects to the EDC Board of Directors and to City Council for approval. Provides regular executive level reporting to the EDC Boards and City Council. Develops and implements projects, recommendations, economic analyses, incentive analysis, and proposed policy changes for consideration by the EDC Board of Directors in keeping with Board directives, the EDC's Articles, Bylaws and Mission. Develops and manages EDC budgets, financial performance, including contracts, accounts payable, receivable, maintain cash flow projections and preparation of financial statements of the EDCs. Provides analysis of revenue and expenses to anticipate and propose changes/alterations in EDC’s best interest. Manages a marketing and strategic plan for a long‑range economic development program; prepares periodic reports indicating the related activities and progress toward goals and objectives; advises the EDC Boards, City Administrator, Mayor and City Council on issues related to the improvement and enhancement of the commercial tax base. Makes oral presentations before the EDC Board of Directors, City Council, Chamber of Commerce and business groups on topics pertaining to the activities of the corporation and economic development. Negotiates vendor contracts for service with the approval of the EDC Board and monitors contract compliance. Manages the branding, marketing, and advertising of the EDC’s, which represents New Boston as a wonderful place for business. Maintains and updates the Economic Development Corporation’s website information. Initiates, develops and maintains programs to encourage the retention and expansion of existing businesses and industries within the City.
