Senior AccountantThe Senior Accountant role exists to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely maintenance of the general ledger and related financial reporting. The position is accountable for supporting the month-end close, preparing financial statements and account reconciliations, analyzing reserves and variances, managing key accounting systems, and providing audit support. The role brings value to the organization by delivering reliable financial information, strengthening accounting controls, and identifying process improvements that increase efficiency and support informed decision-making.Location: Syracuse, NYWhat You’ll DoManage key month-end close activities, including accounting period controls, inventory reporting, and timely completion of assigned close tasks.Prepare and post accurate journal entries and cost adjustments to the general ledger.Prepare monthly financial statement packages, including the income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flows, supporting schedules, and related analysis.Analyze financial results, budget-to-actual variances, expense activity, and billed sales to identify unusual transactions, trends, and required adjustments.Prepare and support significant reserves, estimates, inventory adjustments, and cost-of-sales reconciliations.Complete timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, bank, sales tax, and other assigned accounts.Manage fixed asset records and related accounting within the CCH fixed asset system.Manage reconciliation and reporting processes within Adra and Planful to support accurate and controlled financial reporting.Support interim and annual audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to audit requests.Develop and manage accounting procedures and internal controls for assigned processes.Identify, test, and implement system and workflow improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and control.Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day support to staff accountants, and provide coverage for accounting leadership as needed.What You BringBachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of three years of relevant experience required.CPA, CMA or progress towards certification required.Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, while demonstrating strong attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines is essential.Demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.Ability to use Windows based computer systems and Microsoft Office applications, with proficiency in Word, and Excel (spreadsheet proficiency).Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the job and the company core values.Experience or background using Oracle, Netsuite, SAP or other major ERP a plus.What We OfferHealth insurance and prescription drug coverageDental and Vision insuranceCompany-paid basic life and AD&D insurance and voluntary life optionsCompany paid short and long-term disability and buy-up optionsCritical illness, accident and hospital indemnity insuranceFlexible spending accountsIdentity Theft & Fraud ProtectionLegal InsurancePet insuranceTraditional and Roth 401(k) retirement plan with company matchEmployee Assistance ProgramTuition reimbursementPaid vacation, sick/personal days and holidaysFlexible work arrangementsJoin the best that Downtown Syracuse has to offer:State of the art office spaceUnlimited Starbucks coffee and flavored waterTeam buildingVolunteer opportunitiesOnsite gymCasual dressWalking distance from Armory Square, The Landmark and so much moreAll offers of employment are conditional upon the successful completion and passing of a background check and drug test.We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
