Assistant Professor of Clinical - Ophthalmology, Corneal / Refractive Surgery

Overview Position: Assistant Professor of Clinical, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM). Full‑time faculty role involved in clinical, educational, and research activities. Responsibilities Provide ophthalmology medical and surgical services per service rotation and call schedule, including possible rotation to other sites in the University of Miami Health System. Be active in education of residents and medical students within the service. Maintain high clinical quality, productivity and citizenship; attend and participate in lectures, rounds, committee assignments, academic activity, etc. Represent the department with clinicians, trainees and staff at affiliates and referral practices with professionalism and engagement. Develop referral and educational relationships within the UMS health system and other regional or national practices. Develop regional and, eventually, national presence as a clinical leader through participation in national and regional meetings. Develop, maintain and secure funding for academic/research activities such as translational research, clinical trials, and other clinical research. Participate in quality assurance protocols and clinical outcome studies for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Perform administrative and committee responsibilities as assigned, including participation or organization of continuing medical education courses. Be willing to see patients at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute satellite locations as needed. Abide by all university policies and procedures, including UMG bylaws, hospital bylaws, and policies of university agencies, vendors, or third parties. Qualifications Board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology. License to practice medicine in the state of Florida (Florida Medical License or University Medical Certificate).
