Role Description The Consumer Direct Loan Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Charleston, SC. This role is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans directly to consumers, from initial inquiry through closing, while ensuring a smooth and transparent borrowing experience. Daily tasks include responding to inbound leads, conducting borrower consultations, collecting and analyzing financial documentation, and recommending appropriate loan products aligned with CMG Financial guidelines. The Loan Officer will prepare and present loan options, manage the application process, coordinate with underwriting, processing, and closing teams, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. The role also involves building long-term relationships with customers, following up on pipeline loans, and contributing to a high-quality customer experience in line with CMG Financial’s service standards. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in consumer mortgage lending, including purchase and refinance transactions, with a solid understanding of conventional, FHA, VA, and other agency products. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and support borrowers in making informed decisions. Proficiency in analyzing income, credit, assets, and collateral to determine loan eligibility and recommend suitable mortgage solutions. Experience working with loan origination systems and related mortgage technology platforms, along with basic proficiency in standard office software tools. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and agency lending regulations, and a commitment to maintaining full compliance with company policies. Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple applications, meet deadlines, and manage a robust loan pipeline. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present loan options and disclosures in a clear, accurate, and ethical manner. Active Mortgage Loan Originator license (NMLS) in applicable states or the ability to obtain and maintain required licensing in a timely manner.
