The Brain & Spine Institute offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neurological services through a collaborative multidisciplinary team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, rehabilitation specialists, advanced practice providers, and other medical professionals dedicated to achieving outstanding patient outcomes.

Position Highlights

As the Chief of Neurology, your responsibilities will include:

• Driving strategic growth and development of the Neurology Service Line throughout the health system.
• Overseeing clinical, operational, quality, and financial performance initiatives.
• Building and mentoring a high-performing team of neurologists and advanced practice providers.
• Expanding innovative neuroscience programs, including stroke and teleneurology services.
• Maintaining an active clinical practice for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Collaborating with executive leadership to enhance neuroscience services and improve patient access.

Primary Responsibilities

Executive & Physician Leadership

• Provide strategic direction for the Neurology Service Line across various hospitals and clinical sites.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, hospital administration, and medical staff to align with organizational objectives.
• Act as the primary physician leader for neurology program development, operational excellence, and service line expansion.
• Mentor physician leaders, neurologists, and administrative teams to promote professional growth and clinical excellence.
• Recruit, onboard, credential, and retain exceptional neurology physicians.
• Encourage collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Lead strategic planning, business development initiatives, and physician engagement efforts.
• Manage the financial performance, budgeting, and long-term viability of the Neurology Service Line.

Clinical Quality & Program Development

• Establish and uphold evidence-based clinical protocols in line with national standards, including AHA/ASA Stroke Guidelines and NAEC recommendations.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives, peer review, FPPE/OPPE processes, accreditation readiness, and performance enhancement programs.
• Monitor quality metrics, patient outcomes, and operational performance across both inpatient and outpatient neurology services.
• Support the expansion of stroke, neurohospitalist, teleneurology, epilepsy, and other neuroscience programs.
• Ensure compliance with regulations while upholding the highest standards of patient-centered neurological care.

Clinical Practice

• Maintain an active clinical practice in both inpatient and outpatient neurology.
• Serve as a senior clinical resource for complex neurological cases.
• Exemplify excellence in patient care, documentation, communication, and collaboration with other physicians.
• Partner with emergency medicine, hospital medicine, critical care, rehabilitation, nursing, and specialty physicians to ensure coordinated neurological care.
• Engage in physician education, case conferences, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO (or an equivalent international degree such as MBBS)
• Board Certification in Neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
• Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license (or eligibility for Maryland licensure)
• A minimum of 7 years of clinical neurology experience
• At least 5 years of leadership experience as a Division Chief, Medical Director, Chief of Neurology, Service Line Leader, or a similar role
• Proven success in leading multidisciplinary physician teams
• Exceptional communication, organizational, leadership, and relationship-building abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA, MHA, MPH, or another advanced leadership degree
• Experience in developing or expanding teleneurology, stroke, or neuroscience service lines
• Familiarity with Joint Commission, DNV, Comprehensive Stroke Center, Primary Stroke Center, or other quality and accreditation programs
• Strong financial management and physician practice leadership experience
• Demonstrated success in strategic planning, physician recruitment, and program expansion

Compensation

• $450,000-$600,000 annually, depending on experience
