Community Support Specialist - 10 month position

Community Support Specialist – 10‑month position Join the Pathways Schools team as a Community Support Specialist. Under the supervision of the principal and a certified teacher, you will develop and deliver community‑based academic, vocational, social skills, and transition experiences to meet assigned students’ needs as outlined by county curricula and the objectives of their IEPs. This role requires collaboration with therapists, educators, and other staff to provide individualized instruction, behavior and social‑skills training, crisis management, and job development. The position has no staff‑supervisory authority. Base pay range $36,000 – $38,000 per year Supervisor Responsibilities No supervisory responsibility. Essential Responsibilities Plan and implement lessons and activities designed to address the specific strengths and needs of students to meet IEP/ITP goals and curriculum guidelines. Provide instructional assistance to certified teachers. Complete educational assessments. Ensure documentation meets regulatory mandates, timelines, and quality standards. Work in collaboration with therapists and crisis intervention specialists to provide crisis management. Assist students in accessing community resources (e.g., arranging appointments). Implement a behavior management system. Collaborate with transition specialists, coordinators, and job coaches to support transition planning. Support employment and career development, including vocational assessment, career exploration, internship/employment placement, and self‑advocacy skill development. Coordinate and provide transportation for students between residences, community resources, and school sites. Participate in site‑wide and interdisciplinary staff meetings. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements High‑school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred. Degree in special education or related field preferred (education, psychology, social work, sociology, criminology, etc.). Minimum 6 months experience working with adolescents and knowledge of community and employment resources. Access to a working, insured vehicle for Pathways use, including student transport. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of standard operating procedures, policies, and procedures. Maintain highest level of confidentiality. Effective interpersonal skills with students, peers, leadership, and stakeholders. Strong oral and written communication skills; adept at responding to common inquiries. Technological competency (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Google). Mandatory Training Requirements Continued self‑development through participation in education, seminars, workshops, etc.
