Job Description

The Client Advocate (CA) - NA Construction serves as the primary point of coordination between the Senior Client Advocate (SCA) and the Associate Client Advocate (ACA), translating client strategy into effective day-to-day execution. The CA delivers consultative risk and insurance advisory to construction clients - general contractors, owners/developers, and subcontractors - grounded in deep construction industry and coverage expertise.

On large and complex construction accounts, the CA partners with a Producer and/or Senior Client Advocate, executing the strategy the SCA sets while directing and reviewing the work of the ACA and broader service team. On middle-market or less complex construction accounts where no senior account lead is assigned, the CA independently serves as the primary client relationship lead - owning strategy, service delivery, and outcomes directly.

The CA coordinates and leverages WTW resources - broking, the construction practice group, risk control, and claims advocacy - to deliver seamless service, effective placement strategies, and integrated risk management solutions, while ensuring adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and technical standards.

Leveraging deep construction industry and insurance expertise, the CA develops and advises on coverage strategies, identifies opportunities to enhance client outcomes, and supports growth through proactive relationship management.

Success in this role requires the ability to deliver exceptional client service in a fast-paced environment, exercise sound judgment, and operate with a high degree of autonomy while fostering strong collaboration across internal teams and mentoring junior colleagues.

The Role

Relationship Management & Account Leadership

• Serve as the primary point of coordination between the Senior Client Advocate and Associate Client Advocate, ensuring strategy translates into effective, timely execution.
• On middle-market or less complex construction accounts without an assigned SCA, serve as the primary client relationship lead, owning account strategy, service, and outcomes directly.
• Retain and grow the existing book of business through proactive relationship management and delivery of exceptional client service.
• Develop and strengthen client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor on construction risk and insurance strategy.

Coordinating WTW Resources & Service Delivery

• Identify, engage, and coordinate WTW resources - broking, construction practice group, risk control, and claims advocacy - to deliver a seamless, integrated client experience.
• Direct and review the day-to-day work of the Associate Client Advocate and broader service team, ensuring service delivery meets client expectations and, where applicable, SCA-set strategy.
• Escalate complex strategic or program-level decisions to the SCA on accounts where one is assigned.

Construction Program & Coverage Advisory

• Provide strategic planning and consultative advice to clients; monitor evolving construction risk and insurance needs - including project pipeline and contract structures - in collaboration with WTW broking, practice, and industry groups.
• Advise on and recommend solutions across the full policy and project lifecycle, including Builder's Risk, Owner/Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP/CCIP), Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI), Surety and bonding, Environmental, and Professional Liability, as well as acquisition due diligence.
• Review client and subcontractor construction contracts to identify indemnification, insurance, and additional insured requirements, and flag risk or coverage gaps.
• Support insurance program design and strategy by partnering with Broking to leverage appropriate analytical tools.

Renewal, RFP & Negotiation

• Lead the renewal process by establishing and executing client-specific renewal strategies in collaboration with broking and internal partners - independently on CA-led accounts, or in support of the SCA's strategy on larger accounts.
• Support the Request for Proposal (RFP) response process, including strategy, coordination across lines of business, and ownership of deliverables.
• Lead the development, negotiation, and execution of client fee and compensation agreements.

Client Deliverables & Market Awareness

• Design and deliver client-facing materials, including proposals, stewardship/advocacy reports, and client service plans.
• Drive account profitability while ensuring long-term client retention and satisfaction.
• Partner with Sales and Broking to stay informed of construction market trends - including capacity, surety, and wrap-up markets - and positioning to enhance client strategies.

Mentorship

• Mentor and support the development of Associate Client Advocates (ACAs) and broader account teams.
• Perform other duties as identified and appropriate to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Qualifications

The Requirements

• 8+ years of commercial Property & Casualty experience in a client-facing role, with construction industry experience strongly preferred, or demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the role.
• Working knowledge of construction-specific insurance products, including Builder's Risk, OCIP/CCIP wrap-up programs, Subcontractor Default Insurance, Surety/bonding, Environmental, and Professional Liability.
• Strong knowledge of coverage forms with the ability to analyze program design, identify coverage gaps, and provide ongoing coverage advisory.
• Ability to review construction contracts for indemnification, insurance, and additional insured requirements.
• Ability to interpret, analyze, and present complex analytical models and insights.
• Proven relationship management skills, with the ability to leverage internal and external relationships to deliver tailored client solutions and effectively navigate conflict.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead client relationships on middle-market or less complex construction accounts, and to partner effectively within a larger account team - supporting an SCA - on complex or large accounts.
• Advanced negotiation skills, including structuring complex solutions, building consensus across stakeholders, and driving successful outcomes.
• Strong business acumen, including understanding of client strategies, market dynamics, and risk solutions specific to the construction industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the end-to-end insurance renewal process, including key steps, stakeholders, and timelines.
• Demonstrated business development capability, including identifying and advancing growth opportunities within client relationships.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to lead presentations and facilitate complex or technical discussions.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead large, complex, and multi-dimensional initiatives.
• Demonstrated leadership and influence skills, including the ability to guide teams, direct and mentor Associate Client Advocates, drive accountability, and support change initiatives.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with adaptability and openness to feedback.
• Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to developing innovative solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with relevant business and analytical tools.
• Property & Casualty license required, with completion of continuing education requirements.
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred.
• Professional insurance designations preferred but not required (CPCU, ARM, CIC, CRIS, CRM); Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) a plus.
• Periodic travel is required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $120,000.00-$155, 000.00 USD annually.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
