Registered Nurse (RN), Night Shift, Trauma Surgical Department UC Health is hiring a full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) for the trauma surgical department for the Night Shift. The department is located at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Unit & Patient Population This unit provides care for trauma patients admitted from the Emergency Room, Surgical ICU, and Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit. Nursing duties focus on mobility, patient education, monitoring intake and output, and pain management. The primary surgical specialties include ENT, urology, and other trauma‑related procedures such as head and neck cancer treatments, airway reconstructions, and urological cancers. Location Cincinnati, OH, United States Qualifications Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Current BLS/ACLS/PALS as required by department needs. Responsibilities Patient Population (Clinical Only) Engage in population‑appropriate communication, provide clear instructions to patients and families, involve family in assessment and care, recognize physical limitations and intervene as necessary, and respond to behavioral health concerns. Monitor for signs of abuse or neglect. Clinical Judgment Apply clinical reasoning with nursing skills based on evidence‑based guidelines, collect basic data, follow protocols for all populations, and make informed decisions without deviation. Advocacy (Moral Advocacy) Represent patient and family concerns, resolve ethical and clinical issues, maintain confidentiality, and uphold patient rights. Caring Practices Create a compassionate, supportive environment, promote patient independence, educate on condition and medication, maintain safety, and acknowledge the possibility of death. Collaboration Work with patients and multidisciplinary team members, mentor and be open to feedback, and maintain cooperative relationships. Systems Thinking Manage environmental and system resources, recognize negotiation opportunities, and see the patient/family within the unit environment.
