Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) Binghamton, New York. The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, helping to prevent illness and injury while alleviating suffering through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy for individuals and families. This role is accountable for compliance with professional practice standards, including the New York State Nurse Practice Act, and requires bringing the active license on the first day of employment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12 nights, 36/week, every 3rd weekend.
• Required Qualifications: Current New York State Registered Nurse license; graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association (AHA), Health Services Institute (HSI), or American Red Cross); experience with intensive cardiac patients (including CHF, COPD, end stage heart failure, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, and GI bleeds; CRRT, IABP, Impella, and normothermia; stroke patients for thrombectomy/tenecteplase (TNK); and ICU overflow); six (6) months to three (3) years of Nursing (RN) experience; proficiency in collaboration, communication (verbal and written), judgment/critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning (organizing and time management), problem solving, quality, reliability, and safety and risk management.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing; previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting; Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN); relevant skills certification (i.e., Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)) as required by home unit assignment.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a group of patients as a primary and/or accountable nurse when designated; educating patients and families in health promotion and disease management; safely administering medications according to facility policy and utilizing working knowledge of pharmacology; supporting nursing shared governance by participating in unit council activities, improvement initiatives, and peer review practices; engaging in professional development and completing required education; integrating nursing research and current evidence into practice; providing supportive learning environments for new employees and students; performing duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned; participating in a clinical ladder program as knowledge and expertise develop; and performing other duties as assigned.
