Job Posting Title Adjunct Faculty, Philosophy Summary Responsible to prepare and deliver Philosophy coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline‑appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. About the Department The Philosophy, Religion, and Humanities department offers an associate’s degree in Philosophy and serves a multicultural student body from Round Rock to Lockhart. Courses cover classic and contemporary inquiries into reality, truth, morality, freedom, identity, and justice, and students frequently transfer to regional universities. Principal Responsibilities and Duties Prepare and teach courses in Philosophy to a multicultural student population based on approved learning outcomes, using instructional strategies appropriate for community‑college students and discipline standards. Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations. Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that does not discriminate on protected categories. Remain current in the field through professional development activities. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, or vice chancellor. Technology Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and educational technologies. Proficiency with an online learning‑management system such as Blackboard for course content development and administrative duties (e.g., posting office hours, syllabi). Principal Professional Standards Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final grades. Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve retention. Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions. Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional teaching standards. Required Education Master’s degree in Philosophy; or Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Philosophy. No substitution for educational requirements.
