This role is responsible for the smooth operation of select managed foundations and projects, coordinating workflows, timelines, deliverables, meetings, and communications across multiple workstreams.The Manager will work alongside IP colleagues while increasingly taking ownership of day-to-day client activities, board and committee meeting logistics, grantmaking processes, research, and the development of reports and presentations. The role requires someone who can organize complex information, anticipate next steps, communicate clearly, and consistently deliver accurate, high-quality work.This is an ideal opportunity for a thoughtful and highly organized professional who enjoys balancing client service, project coordination, research, and operational detail. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently within established parameters while knowing when to ask questions or escalate complex and novel issues.This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid role based in Maryland. Employees must be able to commute periodically to IP's Bethesda office and travel regularly within the Washington, DC metropolitan area for meetings, site visits, and other in-person responsibilities. Occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel may be required.Scope & AccountabilityA developing contributor responsible for managing projects and workflows within established parameters. Makes day-to-day decisions related to execution, timelines, and coordination. Accountable for quality, consistency, and delivery; escalates complex or novel issues. Roles & Responsibilities1. Foundation OperationsProactively manage workflows, timelines, deliverables, and coordinationDevelop reports, presentations, memos, agendas, grant summaries, and budgetsCoordinate client and board meeting planning, logistics, materials, and follow-upManage foundation administration, scheduling, expenses, financial reporting support, files, minutes, and policies2. GrantmakingSupport grant application processes and applicant and grantee communicationsReview and summarize applications, conduct due diligence, and support interviews and site visitsProcess grant payment requests and verify required approvals and payment information3. Research and StrategyContribute to strategy development across grantmaking, governance, and operationsConduct and synthesize research and stakeholder interviewsSupport surveys, data management, analysis, reports, presentations, and visual graphics4. Internal Projects and SupportCollaborate with IP team members to improve processes and share knowledgeParticipate in software implementation, resource development, and other organizational improvement projectsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree and a minimum of four to five years of professional experience with steadily increasing job responsibility.Ability to quickly learn and use new technology for managing grants and operations, including accounting software, project management or workflow software, and a grants management database.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to proactively manage complex workflows, coordinate with team members, and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.Strong organization and research skills and an understanding of how to gather, analyze, and synthesize diverse information from written documents and interviews.Impeccable professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize large volumes of information into emails and reports that match client communication preferences.Ability to quickly learn and use new technology for managing grants and operations, including accounting software and a grants management database.Ability to work independently with attention to detail while also interacting effectively with a team.Ability to seek and incorporate feedback and deliver timely work products with strict attention to detail.Ability to take the work seriously without taking oneself too seriously.Core CompetenciesJob Knowledge and Skills: Executes assignments using sound judgment and knowledge of IP's work.
