License: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Certifications: ARRT Certified in Mammography within nine months from date of hire
Must-Have:
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
40 hours documented training specific to mammography
8 hours modality specific digital training in accordance with Mammography Quality Standards Act
Competency to perform screening mammograms
Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit
Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Organizational and prioritization skills
Detail-oriented in examining clinical and numerical data
Description:
Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the supervision of a radiologist.
Performs timely screening mammography with a repeat rate of less than 5%.
Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam.
Explains the exam in a manner that patients can understand, gaining cooperation and reducing anxiety.
Complies with all departmental and hospital policies.
Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager.
Exercises independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited.
Works directly with patients and customers.
Engages with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Collaborates with healthcare professionals and staff.
