Mammographer

Job Summary Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast for screening exams under the general supervision of a radiologist. Job Responsibilities Performs timely screening mammography, with less than 5% repeat rate. Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam. Explains exam in a manner patients can understand, gains patient cooperation, and reduces patient anxiety. Complies with all departmental and hospital policies. Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager. Uses independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited, based on established policies/protocols. Works directly with patients and/or customers, as well as internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff. Required Skills & Experience Zero (0) - six (6) months of related experience. Competent to perform screening mammograms on individuals aged 18 - 100 years. Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography units and basic positioning skills. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. Detail-oriented in examining clinical and numerical data. Preferred Skills & Experience N/A Required Education Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Must complete, within nine months from hire date, 40 hours of documented training specific to mammography and 8 hours of modality-specific digital training in accordance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act. Preferred Education N/A Required Certification & Licensure Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and ARRT Certification in Mammography within nine months from date of hire.
