About the Role:

An established and respected Family Law firm is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join its San Jose team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 5+ years of family law experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling matters with a high degree of independence.

The successful candidate will manage substantive family law matters, work directly with clients, conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, and support cases through negotiation, discovery, and resolution. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage family law matters from initial assessment through resolution with minimal supervision.
• Work directly with clients regarding discovery, case preparation, documentation, and other legal matters.
• Negotiate and assist in settling family law cases.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, correspondence, charts, tables, and other case-related materials.
• Analyze complex legal issues and develop practical solutions for clients.
• Draft, review, and negotiate pleadings, agreements, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Monitor case schedules, court deadlines, filing requirements, and other critical dates.
• Manage and maintain legal files and records related to discovery, investigations, and litigation.
• Coordinate discovery processes, including gathering, reviewing, and organizing documents and evidence.
• Follow up on investigation requests and serve as a liaison for gathering documents, evidence, and correspondence.
• Monitor and provide guidance to paralegals and office staff as appropriate.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other professionals.
• Handle routine, moderately complex, and complex legal matters within areas of responsibility.
• Perform substantive legal work involving legal analysis, drafting, negotiation, and client counseling.
• Participate in special projects and provide additional legal support as required.

Required Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the California Bar and license in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years of family law experience.
• Experience working in a busy, fast-paced family law firm environment.
• Strong knowledge of family law procedures, legal research, discovery, negotiation, and case management.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage routine through complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
• Experience with settlement negotiations, client counseling, discovery, legal drafting, and substantive case analysis.
• Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to respond appropriately to urgent matters.
• Strong judgment and ability to independently analyze unique legal issues and develop effective solutions.
• Ability to effectively manage legal files, case calendars, discovery, investigations, and filing deadlines.
• Experience supervising or coordinating the work of paralegals and legal support staff is preferred.
• Professional, client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned matters.
• Positive attitude, good sense of humor, and genuine passion for practicing family law.
