VP Associate General Counsel

Position SummaryJetBlue is seeking a strategic and business-minded Vice President & Associate General Counsel to lead key areas of the Company’s legal function, with a focus on commercial transactions. A background in leading, negotiating, and drafting corporate transactions, including real estate, with knowledge of privacy and data governance, and emerging technology (including AI) would be ideal. This executive will partner closely with senior leadership to enable innovation while managing legal and regulatory risk in a highly dynamic, consumer-facing, and regulated industry. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in complex commercial contracting, privacy and technology regulation, infrastructure and real estate matters. This role requires an ability to navigate across the organization, to influence and build consensus. The role requires strategic thinking, as well as a person who rolls up their sleeves to dive into diverse subject matter areas.This role reports to the General Counsel and serves as a trusted advisor across the organization, helping drive strategic initiatives consistent with JetBlue’s values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion, and Fun.Essential ResponsibilitiesStructure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including sourcing, technology, digital, operations, and strategic partnershipsAdvise on real estate and infrastructure matters, including airport agreements, leases, facilities development, and related transactionsProvide legal oversight for emerging technology initiatives, including AI governance and responsible innovationTrack record of leading complex, high-value commercial and strategic transactions,Manage outside counsel and external advisors effectively and efficientlyLead and develop a high-performing team of legal professionalsTake a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement Other duties as assigned Minimum Experience and QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdictionTen (10) years of relevant experience in a major law firm and/or in-house legal departmentSignificant experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreementsExperience advising on real estate transactions and infrastructure-related agreementsDeep knowledge of U.S. privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) and familiarity with global data protection frameworks (e.g., GDPR)Demonstrated ability to design and implement compliance and risk mitigation programs.Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholdersExceptional judgment, business acumen, and solution-oriented mindsetAvailable for occasional overnight travel (10%)Must pass a pre-employment drug testMust be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is locatedAuthorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship Preferred Experience and QualificationsLead JetBlue’s legal strategy for privacy, data governance, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with evolving domestic and international regulations.Experience in aviation, transportation, or other highly regulated industries strongly preferredPrior in-house legal leadership experience at the officer or equivalent level and experience advising executive levelDemonstrated expertise in technology transactions, digital platforms, mobile apps and emerging technologies (including AI); experience with cloud and Saas technology procurementExperience building and leading global privacy and data governance programs; relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP) a plus Experience managing regulatory investigations, cybersecurity incidents, or crisis response International legal experience across multiple jurisdictions Proven ability to lead, develop, and scale high-performing legal teams Crewmember Expectations: Regular attendance and punctuality; full remote not available Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short noticeAble to maintain a professional appearance When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraftPromote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standardsIdentify safety and security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controlsMust be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun Responsible for ensuring crewmembers have requisite training, resources and support to achieve safety objectivesThe use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the positionEquipment: Computer and other office equipmentWork Environment: Traditional office environment Physical Effort: Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally, 0 pounds frequently. (Sedentary)Compensation: The base pay range for this position is between $240,000.00 and $330,000.00 per year.
