BIC Data Operations Specialist

Position summary Under the supervision of the Director, BIC Operations & Projects, the BIC Data Operations Specialist supports BIC's growing need for repeatable data execution, reporting operations, and automation support outside core workflow platforms. This role will work alongside the BIC Operations & Business Process Analyst. They will operationalize analytics, reporting, and automation solutions designed by senior staff, allowing BIC to maintain speed, accuracy, and self sufficiency while freeing advanced technical resources to focus on architecture, tooling, and future state initiatives (e.g., AI enablement, cloud migration, integrations). Position responsibilities Reporting & Data Operations Run and maintain established reports, dashboards, queries, and extracts Execute recurring data pulls for leadership, audits, compliance, and firmwide initiatives Validate output accuracy and reconcile data discrepancies Automation & Tool Execution Operate and maintain repeatable scripts, jobs, and API based processes built by senior staff Execute batch jobs (e.g., report runs, data refreshes, operational maintenance tasks) Monitor performance, log results, and elevate issues, as needed Data Support for Firmwide Initiatives Support data requests related to AI tools, governance initiatives, cloud readiness, and analytics Assist with documentation and reproducibility of data processes Provide operational support during high volume or time sensitive initiatives Process Discipline & Reliability Ensure data handling complies with confidentiality, risk, and policy requirements Follow documented procedures and assist in improving operational resilience Maintain organized runbooks, trackers, and execution records Growth & Skill Development Build familiarity with APIs, reporting platforms, data tools, and automation workflows Gain exposure to AI related data preparation and governance concepts Partner closely with senior technical staff to expand technical depth over time All other duties as assigned or required Skills and experience Required After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required Ability to travel, as required 3+ years of directly applicable experience (e.g., in data operations, reporting, analytics, or business technology support role, or equivalent) Strong analytical skills and comfort working with structured datasets Strong knowledge and proficiency in Python, SQL Familiarity with APIs, scripting, or automation tools, particularly as relates to dashboards and analytics Preferred Bachelor's degree Experience running reports or queries from enterprise platforms Familiarity with Excel, reporting tools, or data visualization platforms Interest in AI, automation, and internal tooling Prior experience building tools/models Competencies Entrepreneurial by nature High degree of accuracy, follow through, and operational discipline Ability to execute technical instructions reliably and independently Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with ability to facilitate and solve problems Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate multiple activities often under tight timelines Ability to drive projects to completion and achieve goals Strong judgment Team-player with collaborative spirit Unwavering ability to handle and maintain confidentiality regarding firm information, projects, client data High level of professionalism at all times Proactive, analytical mindset Clear written and verbal communication skills Effective presentation skills Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE. The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 40 hours per week is $39.50 - $58.00 ($82,160.00 - $120,640.00 annually). Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
