Project Accountant

Overview Location: Sanford, FL A fast-growing, family-owned commercial masonry and concrete company is seeking a Project Accountant to support its Florida team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter responsible for overseeing project accounting tasks and ensuring smooth financial operations. You will work closely with Project Managers to manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, job costing, and more. We have completed a wide range of high-profile projects across Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Ocala, Melbourne, and Fort Lauderdale. We specialize in the construction of big-box retail stores, office buildings, multi-story projects, banks, hotels, medical centers, and large grocery chains. Responsibilities Accounts Receivable: Manage prime contract administration, AIA billings, and ensure collections through lien preparation. Accounts Payable: Handle sub-subcontractor administration, AIA billings, purchase orders, and lead company-wide AP functions. Contract & Billing: Oversee contract terms and billing processes, ensuring timely and accurate submissions. Payroll & Timecards: Enter timecards and production quantities for accurate payroll and job costing. Job Cost Management: Monitor project budgets, prepare job cost reports, and conduct variance analysis to ensure profitability. NTO Filing: Ensure Notice to Owner filings are completed accurately and on time. Change Orders: Assist in processing and tracking change orders as they relate to project budgets. Qualifications Education: College degree. Experience: Minimum 2+ years of construction accounting experience. Software: Proficiency in Sage 100 Contractor, Procore, Yardi. Skills: Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines, and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for job cost and variance analysis.
