Intake Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Healthcare Intake & Authorization Specialist to join our Care Center team. In this high-volume inbound role, you will serve as a primary point of contact for providers and health plan members, processing service authorization requests, verifying eligibility, and supporting first-call resolution while upholding strict HIPAA confidentiality standards.

• Fully Remote- Equipment Provided

Hours:

• Standard Training (M–F): 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM CST (1/2-hour lunch, two 15-minute breaks)
• Production Shift: Anticipated 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM CST (candidates must be open to any shift between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM CST)

• Pay: $18.00/hr

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Authorization & Inquiries: Process authorization requests, verify member eligibility, and confirm provider status actively over the phone.

• Non-Clinical Problem Resolution: Serve as the first point of contact for member/provider concerns; guide callers on required clinical details to streamline workflows.

• Appeals & Updates: Communicate appeal and denial information clearly and professionally to members and providers; process withdrawals and status changes.

• Compliance & Quality: Adhere to regional regulatory and client requirements while meeting monthly call metrics and quality performance standards.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify operational efficiencies and participate in ongoing skill development within a high-performance team.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• 1+ years of call center experience.

• Ability to comfortably handle 50–100 inbound calls daily.

• strong typing skills (minimum 35 WPM) and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

• Demonstrated ability to handle protected health information (PHI) with strict confidentiality.

• Flexibility to work adjusted schedules, including required overtime or weekend shifts.

Preferred:

• 2+ years of experience in a health plan, TPA, or medical contact center.

• Familiarity with managed care programs (Commercial, Marketplace, Medicaid, Medicare).

• bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (assessment required).
