Responsibilities:

Ensures the Patient Logistics Center function(s) are consistently maintained during all operation hours; provides oversight and direction over all staff and processes related to Patient Logistics Center functions. The position works in collaboration with Patient Logistics Center Regional Director and Staff, hospital department representatives, physicians and leadership teams to foster relationships with referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staff around the concept of patient transfers. The position works closely with staff at all levels within organizations served to identify, trend, report, and overcome barriers to patient throughput or transfer processes. 

1. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
2. Assumes responsibility for clinical and resource management of unit while on duty.
3. Assumes responsibility for employee, physician, customer, and patient satisfaction related to Patient Logistics Center processes.
4. Promotes each hospital’s customer service initiatives and protects the integrity of such programs.
5. Coordinates and integrates human and material resources to efficiently provide customer service delivery to support the transfer center functions.
6. Coordinates facility capacity flow and appropriate bed placement services, as indicated.
7. Coordinates and manages all processes related to the Access Center to include but not limited to ED & Inpatient Transfers, MD office admissions, Behavioral Health Admissions, Patient Transport, and Capacity Management for each facility served.
8. Promotes and ensures overall ease of entry to any Ardent facility.
9. Maintains/ensures EMTALA compliance within all operations of the Patient Logistics Center Operations.
10. Manages staffing and scheduling of staff within productivity and budgetary guidelines.
11. Ensures quality and performance metrics are always maintained within department operations.
12. Communicates effectively with customers at all levels.
13. Ensures Quality Reviews include documentation, telephone call recordings, and general staff interactions with customers are conducted and maintained.
14. Designs and operationalizes quality assurance and process improvement initiatives to improve overall functions within the Access Center.
15. Concurrently investigates and trouble shoots service gaps and process issues and brings issues to resolution in a timely manner.
16. Conducts employee evaluations and feedback both concurrently and annually.
17. Assists and performs all Access Center functions to ensure efficient processes are maintained.
18. Serves as a personal and professional role model and mentor for staff.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in a nursing compact licensure participating state
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
• 3+ years of clinical experience in acute care setting with progressive supervisory experience
• Demonstrated skills in problem solving, analytical and critical thinking, prioritization, negotiation, conflict resolution, proactive decision making.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships within the department and with defined customers.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written, and electronic formats with personnel at all levels within an organization.

Preferred Job Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Master’s Degree
• 3+ years of experience in transfer center, bed placement and capacity management
