Position overview Position title: Unit 18 Faculty Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an initial appointment is $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the salary range for this position. These are academic year appointments and subject to the normal processes of academic review. Salary is prorated in accordance instructional workload calculation. Anticipated start: Academic Year: 7/1/2026 - 6/30/2027; Fall Semester: 8/1/2026 - 12/31/2026; Spring Semester: 1/1/2027 - 5/31/2027 Position duration: Academic year or fall/spring semester Application Window Open date: March 26, 2026 Next review date: Thursday, Apr 9, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time). Position description The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts seeks lecturer(s) to teach courses in Anthropology with expertise in archaeology and cultural heritage in the Academic Year 2026-27. Courses being offered may include but are not limited to: Shamans, Priests, and Cults Archaeological Field Methods Anthropological Archaeology Cultural Heritage Policy/Practice Modeling Cultural Heritage In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion and lab sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant. This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Three courses in Fall and three courses in Spring are equivalent to full time position. Part time varies based on need and availability. Academic Year: 7/1/2026 - 6/30/2027; Fall Semester: 8/1/2026 - 12/31/2026; Spring Semester: 1/1/2027 - 5/31/2027 Qualifications Basic qualifications Advanced degree in anthropology or a related field, expertise in anthropological archaeology with experience of carrying out archaeological fieldwork, including analyzing material artifacts and/or documenting and mapping archaeological sites.
