Anthropology Department Special Sessions Lecturer Pool - SJSU Online Job no: 553081. Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer. Location: San José. The SJSU Anthropology Department is dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning. The department offers regular session in-person undergraduate BA degree programs and an in-person MA degree program. Two special sessions online degree programs are offered: an Anthropology BA and an Interdisciplinary Studies BA with a Science, Technology & Society concentration. Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the department's curriculum and conduct weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Participate in ongoing assessment of student learning to continuously improve teaching and learning experiences and to adhere to accreditation requirements. Work collaboratively with colleagues on public health curriculum-related processes such as teaching multi-section courses to ensure the quality, rigor, relevance, and consistency of our curricula. Attend team meetings and training sessions as required. Organize classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement. Offer and meet all classes as scheduled throughout the entire term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid). Required Qualifications MA or Ph.D. degree in a field relevant to the curriculum or in a related discipline. Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline to which the individual is assigned. Ability to teach and evaluate adult learners. Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work. Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience. Preferred Qualifications Ability to effectively design, teach, and assess undergraduate and graduate courses in-person, online, and in hybrid formats.
