This position requires the individual to be able to respond to anemergencywithin 24 hours of notice and toestablishcare with in 72 hours of notification. This is a post disaster mission and will require thecandidateto be onsite until conclusion of the operation. The Safety Officerhas overall responsibility for the supervision and development of staff whofacilitateorganizationand support safety across the project. This positionwillimprovestaff competencies, assess individual performance, evaluate program effectiveness and communication with key stakeholders. Thisroleassuresthe use of disciplined improvement processes and toolsandprovidesperformance measurement. The Safety Officer uses safety driven principles to support a just and reliable culture. This person willutilizethe resources and activities of the organization to support the SafetyProgram. TheSafety Officer worksclosely with leaders acrosstheprojectto understandoperationaldirection and prioritiesthatpromotesafety. Key Responsibilities: Adviseon safety topics. Investigateincidents. Compilesafety programs. Practicesafe working techniques. Implement andmaintaininghealth and safety standards. Establish a professional relationship with employees. Maintain compliance with all safety regulations. Conduct regular staff meetings to share best practices. Identifyhazardous waste and disposing of it correctly. Promotesafety initiatives. Document staff information, meeting minutes, and reports for management. Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies. Qualifications Required Skills and Knowledge: A minimum ofthree(3) years’ experience in aSafety Officer Role. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Critical thinking skills. Cultural competency. Integrity and honesty. Experience Preferred: Understanding of “Special Needs” populations (Preferred). Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-basedtrainingand communications. Knowledge of, and moderateproficiencyin, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel,Outlookand SharePoint. Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act)regardingthe confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills. Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Cultural competency and interpersonal skills. ExperienceinDisaster Relief, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor. Experience in collaboration with state and local medical facilities. Education Required: Bachelor’s or higher in relevant field. OSHA (Occupational Safety Health Administration) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) training. CurrentBasic Life Support(BLS)required. Duty Hours / On-Call Requirements: This an upon notification position. Shifts will be 12 hours a day until complete. Physical Demands: Physically capable of performing duties and responsibilities as listed above. Ability to work in an austere environment; exposure to heat and extreme weather conditions. Frequent use of common office technology such as the computer, telephone etc. Ability to drive a vehicle on behalf of the company. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping, andlifting upto 35 lbs.
