Business Financial Manager The Business Financial Manager (BFM) will serve as a strategic advisor to the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA‑H), supporting the financial planning, budgeting, and compliance required for government‑funded research and development initiatives. The role involves managing financial processes, stakeholder engagements, and providing insights to senior decision makers across the agency. Responsibilities Oversee financial planning and analysis, budget management, and financial compliance for ARPA‑H program initiatives. Conceptualize, create, and execute advanced research and development programs, coordinating with scientists and engineers to accelerate health outcomes. Provide strategic assessments of new technologies and present findings to senior ARPA‑H stakeholders on feasibility and impact. Produce and present recommendations, manage current programs, and facilitate commercialization of successful technologies. Develop stakeholder management strategies, establish new business processes, and conduct research and analysis to identify viable solutions. Manage incoming requirements, facilitate engagements within the agency, and shift focus promptly to address emerging client requests. Maintain accurate financial records, forecast budgets, track technical and financial milestones, and coordinate acquisition funding documentation. Support programmatic analysis and provide data‑driven insights to inform decision making. Qualifications Experience in a business financial manager role within a government, research, or innovation‑focused organization. Strong planning, organizing, and facilitation skills for stakeholder engagements such as meetings or workshops. Proficiency in providing financial, budgetary, and administrative support within a government environment. Demonstrated ability to develop, forecast, manage, and maintain budgets, including tracking milestones. Knowledge of federal budgeting, appropriations, acquisition processes, and government contracting. Ability to conduct financial and programmatic analyses. Public Trust determination required. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (Master’s preferred). Nice to Have Experience supporting ARPA‑H, DARPA, or similar research and development organizations. Proficiency in working effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to produce high‑quality, accurate, well‑organized work products responsive to leadership requirements. Adaptability in dynamic, high‑visibility, rapidly changing environments. Integrity, professionalism, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail. Management of multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CGFM are advantageous. Vetting Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements of the U.S. government client. Public Trust determination is required. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $53,000.00 to $108,000.00 (annualized USD). Compensation is based on location, education, skills, experience, and contract specifics.
