Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and analysis of all cost information. It involves preparing cost estimates for new or special products to help establish selling prices and production forecasts. The role oversees cost control systems, manages and interprets cost audits, and prepares cost accounting reports for management. Additional responsibilities include gathering historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.) to compare budgets against actuals, as well as directly supervising and evaluating the performance of Accounting Clerks. This role works closely with the Controller and may assist with other general accounting functions or special projects.

 

Essential Functions of the Position

• Assist in developing and maintaining an automated standard costing system. 
• Maintain all computer files relating to unit costs including bills of material cost.
• Process monthly accounting journal entries to properly assign values to inventory and month cost of goods sold. Includes appropriate variance allocations.
• Provides analysis of historical production costs.
• Provides Production Management with cost impact analysis, regarding the addition of 2nd or 3rd shifts, or their changes in production processes.
• Assist in developing a production efficiency reporting system.
• Cost forecasts-Maintain cost forecast information, developed from estimates from the Controller/Treasurer and CFO.
• Develop cost estimates for new products and special projects.
• Perform impact analysis related to potential acquisitions, merger, and analysis related to product costing as assigned.
• Maintain Cost data in the pricing tool.
• Provide monthly Board reports and analysis.
• Collaborates with peers to ensure compliance to companies financial goals
• Oversee fixed asset and Accounts Payable operations
• Perform LIFO calculations
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

 

Position Qualifications:

Preferred:

· BS/BA Degree in Accounting

· 5+ years accounting experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment

· 5+ years supervisory experience
