Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

SLPs at GW Hospital are expected to collaborate closely with the entire interdisciplinary care team, especially Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians and advanced practice providers, Rehab nurses, OTs, PTs, and case management. This collaboration includes formal, in-person team conference meetings several times per week to discuss each patient's plan of care and progress.

Unique patient populations and features of the ARU include Stroke, Trauma (including SCI), LVAD, Organ Transplant, Trach, Head and Neck Cancer, Rehab Gym, and Dining Room.

Qualifications include a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, minimum 1-year post-graduation experience in inpatient rehab or acute care, independent in performing MBSS, independent in performing FEES, and independent with speaking valve assessment and treatment for trach patients weaned from vent.
